Day 5: MEMPHIS - HERE WE COME! (6/25/08)

The day was finally here. We were heading to Memphis, TN.

Jett's all giddy! This is the day she has been waiting for! I'm so excited for her.

We're leaving Arkansas on the I-40. Just about every trucker is out on the road and we're playing dodge ball with these guys. A few close calls but all are safe.

We pull off to the town of Brinkley, Ark. We wanted to eat at the Waffle House but they were booked. Ended up at Gene's Barbeque but we didn't eat any bbq. Biby had frog legs and she sat next to me. *aaacccckkkk* Not very appetizing or visually pleasing to my ojos!!!

The locals tell us to avoid the truckers on I-40 by taking the parallel road into Memphis on the I-70. That was much better even though we were following a semi...didn't matter, we weren't dodging everyone any longer. We merge back onto I-40 as we're heading into Memphis. We all raise our fists in excitement!

Pulled off to the visitor center and have a few photo ops and go inside to cool off. There, in a room alone, is the statue of Elvis. We all take group photos.

We go up the street a bit to our hotel (Crowne Plaza). Let me just say, it may look nice but they should have provided alot more for the price.

We all checked into our rooms and only had about an hour to chill before we had to meet downstairs then head over to Beale Street.

We get to Beale Street, where the street is lined with every type of motorcycle imaginable. Cones are laid out right in front of B.B. King's.

Kaye's daughter works there and had them save a parking spot for our bikes. We check out the scenery before heading inside for some grub.

Once we finished eating, we all headed outside to mingle with the other bikers. Lots of cool bikes and some funky ones too.

There were quite a few female bikers out as well. One in particular talked to us. She heard that we were coming and wanted to meet with us when we head over to Presley Place the following evening. Her biker name is Lady Lotta Nurve. Love her! See, she was once a resident of Presley Place. She got her 2nd chance at cleaning up her life and now, she wanted to repay them by helping us out with the kids. Too cool!

The night was finally winding down for US because we needed to get up early and head over to Graceland (the moment Jett has been waiting for) by 9am.
